Rachel Gogerly Workshops 2008 

Thursday 10th April 2008    Enamelling on Silver
Learn how to prepare the colours and metal for successful clear results. Wet laying and firing will be demonstrated. Stoning back will also be covered. Finishing will be discussed and tips and trouble-shooting advice will be given. Students can bring along their own work if they wish, sample pieces are available for beginners.

Saturday 12th April 2008    Enamelling on Silver: Blending colours
Wet laying and blending enamels to give subtle colour changes will be demonstrated. Stoning back will also be covered. Preparation of colours and metal will also be covered. Students can bring along their own work if they wish, sample pieces are available for beginners.

Thursday 17th April 2008    Enamelling on Silver/Finishing Techniques
This will be a mixed class. The Finishing Techniques section is aimed at advanced students who can bring along a selection of their own work to finish.

Saturday 19th April 2008    Plique-ΰ-jour
Learn the technique of plique-ΰ-jour enamelling; how to prepare colours, apply them and fire to achieve the stained glass window effect. Each step of the process will be demonstrated. Students can bring along their own work if they wish, sample pieces are provided for beginners.

Mar 30 – Apr 2    Intro into Engraving
Ideal for the beginner looking to incorporate Champleve and its various techniques into their work. We will cover everything from the selection of tools, preparation, to first cuts, and much more.

May 11 – May 14    Working with Enamels
Suited for the enameller with some experience. We will look at working practices, the way we work with colour, including grading of colours. Problem solving, and the opportunity to get answers to some of those questions you always wanted to ask.

June 22 – June 25    Intro into Enamelling
Would suit either the beginner who wants to start enamelling or give the experienced enameller a chance to revaluate the way they work, covering everything from preparation through to finishing

July 27 – July 30    Champleve, Texturing and Carving
Aimed at an intermediate level, having got the basics and the understanding of engraving for enamelling taking that one step further.

Sept 7 – Sept 9    Plique-ΰ-jour
A two day course on the technique of Plique a jour, from design, selection of colours, enamelling through to finishing. Some practical knowledge of enamelling is required for this course and is not suitable for total beginners
