Conference 2007 - Workshop 2

Wet Process Enamels with John Ball

Although wet process enamels have been available for some time, many of the possibilities and techniques have not been widely exploited.  During the day we shall explore as many avenues as possible.  Over-firing, under-firing, mixing to produce new shades, thick application, thin application, combinations of wet process enamels with leadless or leaded powder enamels etc. Application will mainly be on copper, but if you wish to try with other metals, please bring along what you wish.
The day will give you an opportunity first hand to experience the unique properties of wet process enamels.

John Ball is a founder member of the Guild and has continued to be actively supportive.   For over 50 years his company, W.G. Ball Ltd has been involved in the manufacture and supply of colouring oxides to the vitreous enamel industry, including a range of lead-free enamels.   They also supply copper blanks, findings, kilns, kiln tools and accessories and supply the Conference Shop each year.
