AGM/Conference 2007 13th – 15th April Exeter

The annual April weekend conference is open to all members of the Guild. It is a friendly event, with the opportunity to meet 60 or 70 other enthusiasts from all over the country.

This year the Russians are coming, to meet us all on friendly terms at the 2007 Exeter Conference.

We shall be delighted to welcome Mikhail Selishchev who will be tutoring one of the five Saturday workshops

Whether a complete beginner or an advanced enameller the choice is yours but please book early to avoid disappointment. “Open House” at the end of the day will give everyone a chance to see the work made in the other workshops.

On Sunday morning Rachel Gogerly’s Master Class will focus on improving the finish of enamels.

Following the AGM on Friday evening Gillie Hoyte Byrom will be giving an illustrated talk on her experience of teaching enamel painting in China and the after-dinner speaker on Saturday will be Maria Kudryavtseva from St Petersburg who will give an illustrated talk on “Contemporary Russian Enamelling”.

A new addition to the regulars who supply the conference shop will be Marcia Lanyon: Beads.   We have also invited Walsh to bring metal working machinery routinely demonstrated at Art Colleges for a “Having a Go” session using your own pieces and the machinery will be available for the whole weekend.   We have also invited a professional photographer to take digital photos of your enamels to commission.   So there will be plenty to interest and entertain with a wonderful opportunity for an international group of enthusiasts to network with one another.

It will be the first time in several years that the West Country will serve as our conference venue.   Devon now has excellent air, rail and road links and is an attractive area for guests accompanying partners and for those wishing to extend their time.   You will be able to book your accommodation for an extra couple of days on either side of the conference.   The Cathedral City of Exeter has three museums, the Phoenix Arts Centre and Spacex Gallery besides the Historic Quayside and heritage trails.   Other attractions are The Devon Guild of Craftsmen  at Bovey Tracey and the Eden Project in Cornwall.
