Conference 2008 - Workshop 3

Finishing Techniques Workshop with Rachel Gogerley

It is widely recognised that with enamel, the most difficult finish to achieve is that of a perfectly smooth shiny even colour, with no pitting, cloudiness or other defects. We will go through the 5 steps required to produce this high quality finish.
Focus will be on the key techniques of stoning, final firings, pumice and rouge polishing. Demonstrations of how to stone, brush out and re-fire work will be given. The polishing techniques will show you how can enhance the enamel surface and remove scratches from the metal and fire stain from silver without damaging the enamel.

It is essential that you bring along your own work for this workshop, pieces never finished at the bottom of your work box and/or items you’ve enamelled specifically to finish at this class. In this way you will learn how to adapt the techniques so they are relevant to your work.
This informative day will give you the knowledge to practise and achieve a professional finish to your work.
